Incineration Rate (KPI-10)

Expressed in percentage the weight of material disposed by High Temperature Closed Burning as against the waste stream handled.

Averages in %

Averages by Weight

  • Acceptable average – < 40%
  • True increase expected during clearing of collection backlogs, special waste pickups, low segregation rates, and such
  • Apparent increase chiefly due high moisture content and errors in re-sorting process
  • True decrease chiefly due to adoption of alternate methodologies which re-define recoverables
  • Apparent decrease chiefly due errors in weigment and recording
  • Check weighing and recording procedures in the Resource Recovery Centre
  • Intensify supervision
  • Liaise with personnel involved in collection and transport to improve segregation rates and decrease moisture content
  • Conduct individual supervisory checks on personnel involved in re-sorting and take appropriate corrective measures

Confounders

  1. Bulk streams and single special streams with high percentile of incinerable material can mislead observations.
  2. Sundays and Public holidays can show lower percentiles due to collection issues.

As a new strategy to keep the town clean and create awareness on littering, Clean Coonoor has started Neighbourhood Cleanups.
